Here's everything new and improved in Golden Analytics this week.
New Features
Text Analytics — Rebuilt and Streaming
Text analytics has been completely rebuilt. It now uses Claude to power sentiment analysis, theme extraction, and summarization — replacing the previous rule-based engine. Results stream in as they're generated so you see output immediately, and quality is significantly higher across all text analysis operations.
New Date Filter Experience
Date filters have been redesigned from the ground up:
- One-click presets: 7d, 30d, 90d, YTD, 1 year, 2 years, All, or Custom
- Timeline scrubber: A visual slider with a data density histogram shows where your data is concentrated
- Natural language input: Type things like "last 3 months", "Q1 2025", or "since January" and Golden sets the range automatically
- Smart grain suggestions: When you change the date range, Golden suggests an appropriate time aggregation (e.g. switching from daily to monthly for a multi-year range)
Dashboards Stream In
When generating an AI dashboard from Key Questions, charts now appear progressively as they're built instead of waiting for the entire dashboard to be ready before showing anything.
COUNT(DISTINCT) in Calculated Fields
You can now use SQL-style COUNT(DISTINCT [Field]) syntax in calculated field formulas, in addition to the existing Tableau-style COUNTD([Field]). Both forms work identically.
Security
- Database credentials are now encrypted at rest: Connection configurations for all warehouse integrations (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, etc.) are now stored encrypted using AES-256-GCM. Credentials are never stored in plaintext.
Improvements
- Google Sheets: include files shared with you: The Google Sheets picker now has a toggle to show files shared with you, not just files you own.
