Here's everything new and improved in Golden Analytics this week.
New Features
Redesigned Canvas Experience
The analysis canvas has been redesigned around a single unified panel on the right side. Fields, Chat, Quick Insights, Suggested Visualizations, and History are now all accessible as tabs in one place — no more separate floating panes or drawers to manage. The dashboard view follows the same pattern, with the Storyteller pane now housing the fields panel as a tab. Undo/redo has moved to the top header and works contextually across the canvas, dashboard, and data views from a single consistent location.
Spaces — Organize and Share Your Work
Golden now has a full content organization system built around Spaces. Your home page has a personal space for your own work and shared spaces for collaborating with your team. Sessions, datasets, and connections can be scoped to a space, and you can share individual artifacts with specific people via the new Manage Access dialog. Role-based permissions (owner, admin, editor, viewer) control what each person can do at both the workspace and resource level.
Visual Calculations Now Work Everywhere
Table calculations — running total, percent of total, rank, moving average, and difference — now correctly apply across all chart types and datasets, including uploaded files and warehouse connections. Previously these calculations had no effect in many contexts.
Hour, Minute, and Second Time Granularity
Timestamp fields can now be grouped and charted at the hour, minute, or second level — in addition to the existing day, week, month, quarter, and year options. Auto-detection picks the right granularity based on your data's time range.
Improvements
- Home page loads significantly faster: The home screen now uses cached data for instant return visits, and skeleton previews show while content loads. Navigating back from an analysis is 2–5 seconds faster.
- Connect to Data redesigned: Cloud data sources are listed first, the layout is cleaner, and dataset cards now show a source type badge (Snowflake, CSV, Google Sheets, etc.).
- Import wizard opens automatically after adding a connection: After saving a new database connection, the table picker opens immediately — no need to click the connection card again.
- Snowflake: views are now supported: Snowflake views now appear in the table picker alongside tables.
- S3 connector fully working: Connection testing, schema browsing, and file import for S3 data sources have all been fixed and now work end-to-end with clear error messages.
- AI suggestions no longer repeat themselves: Refreshing Suggested Visualizations or Key Questions now returns genuinely new suggestions instead of the same ones again.
- "Go Deeper" produces better insights: The AI behind the Go Deeper feature has been significantly improved. Insights now adapt to your dataset — small datasets get fewer, higher-quality findings instead of padding; datasets without date fields skip trend claims that couldn't be supported; and field names are validated so the AI only references columns that actually exist in your data.
